Car Insurance Volvo (Car Insurance). rpm gauge vs oil and battery gauge?rpm gauge vs oil and battery gauge? Most new cars have a rpm gauge standard on instrument panel.Would it be better have a oil and battery gauge displayed instead ?The oil and battery warning light comes on when vehicle is in basically bad condition. While gauge you may detect problems sooner. Sorry but most people driving are idiots and do not understand the scale of a gauge, so the OEs puts a warning light preset at X rating gages are always better than idiot lights Hi I know what your saying but it comes down to choice and what is available. I drive transport and we have it all. If oil, air, axel temp, etc, upon bells ring if your not watching. Most cars have a volt gauge. Oil gauges are less common, because they are more difficult for the average person to interpret, and loss of oil pressure is not a common problem. yup i agree Auto parts : Wash Mitt Acura 1995 . Small engine starting problem? Hello, I have a 6.5 HP 4 Stroke Honda clone (Chines version of the Honda). I recently washed the motor, later that week I was using the motor, I started to notice it cutting out like the spark plug was bad. Later after using it the cutting out got so bad that when I pulled down on the throttle it would die, I thought the spark plug was just bad so I changed. I couldn't get it to start after that. The motor was dirty so I washed it later that day, I didn't let it dry like I normally do, I just stored it wet (for about a week). So today I was trying to get it started. I thought it might need a new ignition coil. (I have another engine just like it that is broken and I use the parts from it). So I took off the plastic covering and took off the ignition (I don't know what its called) the thing that is bolted next to the flywheel that connects to the ignition wires. After I took it off I noticed the flywheel was rusted so I took a brush and got most of the rust off. Thinking I fixed the problem I just bolted the ignition thing back to the flywheel which is one of my questions. How close is that thing supposed to be to the flywheel, is it supposed to touch it?? Anyways, after I put it back together it still would not start, once I try starting it and take out the sparkplug, the sparkplug has gas and it looks like oil on it. I cleaned the sparkplug the retried, I did this a couple of time then I got it started with choke on and then it died immediately after started and when it does start it will backfire from the intake. So the spark plugs keep getting wet and it wont start, what should I do? Replace the ignition with the other motor's ignition? Or clean off the spark plug some more, or Clean the fly wheel some more, Or replace it the flywheel with the other motors fly wheel, or somehow clean out the gas/oil in the motor. please help I know the spelling and grammar sucks I'm just in a hurry and not use to this computer. car insurance. I am writing this message to you as a last resort, I have no idea how far this message will go, but it's worth a shot. I am writing this message because my fathers dream of riding again is coming to an end as he gets up in age. I don't want him to miss these crucial times in his life and not be able to ride again. He has a 1937 Harley that is sitting in the garage. Due to work overload and money restraints he is unable to get it working again. Basically it is just "stuck" He rode it into the garage 15 years ago, parked it, covered it  and always wanted to ride again. I see tears swell up when he talks about never getting back on it knowing that one day he will be unable to. I do not know what to do, I want to make his dream come true but I don't know where to turn. If anyone would like to help make this a reality for a struggling family in CT. Volvo . How to Install a K&N Air FilterMost vehicles come with disposable paper air filters. When the time comes to change the air filter, the old one is simply thrown away and a new one is put in its place. K&N air filters are much more expensive than these disposable paper filters, but because the K&N air filters can be washed and reused instead of being thrown away, they will eventually save you money over the life of the vehicle. Some auto enthusiasts also believe that K&N air filters increase fuel efficiency and vehicle horsepower because they allow greater air flow than disposable filters. Difficulty:Easy Instructions Step by Step : 1 Raise the hood of your vehicle, and prop it securely in place with the hood support. 2 Pull your new K&N air filter out of the box and look at the shape. It will be either square, rectangular, or in a few cases, it may be round. 3 Locate the large plastic box under the hood of your car that's the same shape as, and a little larger than, the K&N air filter. There should be a large-diameter hose leading away from the top half of the box. Usually, the boxes are closed with spring-loaded metal clips. This is the air filter housing. 4 Use your thumbs to flip back the spring-loaded metal clips that hold the top half of the air filter housing in place. Look on all sides of the casing to make sure you removed all the clips. 5 Lift the top part of the air filter housing off the bottom half. It may not come up very far, but there should be enough flexibility in the large-diameter hose leading away from it to let you lift the top part of the casing by at least 2 inches. 6 Remove the air filter from the air filter housing if there was one previously installed. 7 Note that there is a flat side and a protruding side to your K&N air filter. Place the air filter in the air filter housing with the protruding side oriented downward. It should sit solidly inside the housing. 8 Put the top of the air filter housing securely back in place. Make sure it sits firmly around all edges of the bottom part of the housing. 9 Flip the spring-loaded clips back into place. They should latch onto the top part of the air filter housing and hold it down. Check around all edges of the air filter housing to make sure you haven't left any spring clips dangling. Tips & Warnings In a few cases the air filter housing may be held together by screws or nuts instead of spring clips. If this is the case in your vehicle, you will need to use either a screwdriver or ratchet with the appropriate socket size to remove the screws or nuts so that you can lift the top of the air filter housing. All other aspects of the process will be exactly the same. ResourcesKnfilters.com
Volvo . How to Install an Air Filter in a Yamaha V-StarIf you own a Yamaha V-Star, you're in for a treat when it comes to routine maintenance. Yamaha integrated a side-mounted air filter compartment into the design, making the engine air filter more easily accessible than on most motorcycles and cars. By changing your engine air filter on a regular basis in accordance with the maintenance schedule of your V-Star, you can make sure your bike accelerates quickly and exhibits proper fuel economy. Difficulty:Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Replacement air filter for your model year V-Star Allen wrench Step by Step : 1 Locate the engine air filter compartment. This is on the right side of the bike, just beneath the seat. It is made of plastic, usually black, and the cover is held on with several Allen screws. 2 Loosen and remove all of the Allen screws with an Allen wrench. Pull off the cover and set the screws inside the cover so that they don't roll away from you. 3 Loosen and remove the wingnut securing the air filter in place. This can be removed by hand. Set the wingnut in the removed filter compartment cover, too, so you don't lose it. 4 Slide the filter up and out of the plastic tracks it's mounted in. 5 Slide the new filter down and onto those same plastic tracks. 6 Screw the wingnut back on until it's finger-tight. 7 Put the plastic cover back on the compartment and replace all of the Allen screws. Make sure the Allen screws are fully tightened. Tips & Warnings Make a habit of checking the air filter at least as often as you change the oil in your V-Star. Since checking and replacing the air filter is so easy, though, you might even want to check it every time you add fuel. Carry a spare air filter with you on long road trips, just in case you need it.
